The winding busy streets of Old Delhi gives insight into India's Mughal past, whereas the open imperial spaces and avenues of New Delhi show the legacy of the grand governmental buildings of the British Raj.
Today we will visit the highlights of both Old and New Delhi.
Some of the many sites we will see are the Red Fort, a symbol of Mughal power; Raj Ghat, a memorial of the great Mahatma Gandhi; the impressive Qutab Minar, a 234-foot high red sandstone minaret.The buildings in this complex date from the onset of Muslim rule in India.Tonight enjoy our Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.Vacation Day 3: Delhi to Pushkar Morning flight to Jaipur where we board our van for a 3 hour drive to the Pushkar Camel Fair.Every November, the sleepy little town of Pushkar comes alive with a riot of colors and a frenzied burst of activity.A staggering number of camels, cow and sheep travel their way across the golden sands of Rajasthan to collect at Pushkar for the week-long fair devoted to them.
